Thompson Hotels
I chose this blog because of its unique position for a blog in the hospitality industry. It's articles are put into categories such as "Art" or "Nightlife." Viewers then see by descending date clips of the newest archives in that category, which they can then click on and read more. The blog's target market is trendy, 20-35 year olds who are looking to be active in popular cities. The blog does meet its goals by posting the most popular and up-and-coming topics for its readers. The blog conveys an image of young, trendy, wealthy, and active people who enjoy trying new things in urban areas. They have both a Facebook and Twitter presence. Their Facebook posts are about events that have already occurred and has more push towards their hotels. Their Twitter posts very similar tag lines and comments as they post on Facebook. The blog claims they have knowledge in concierge services that help guests find things to do and places to go.
Kimpton Hotels
I found this blog randomly but the attractiveness of the colors, design, and layout of the blog caught my interest. This blog conveys archives to their audience by posting the entire article as a typical blog does so the readers can scroll without changing pages or clicking on anything. The blog intends to serve middle aged, upscale, traditional couples and individuals. The blog does meet its goal of serving a variety of interests through posts about hotel locations, yoga, and business. An image conveyed through the blog is of middle aged business couples looking to relax and enjoy themselves of the weekend. They have both a Facebook and a Twitter. The Facebook is very similar to the blog while the Twitter has much more direct contact to guests. The topics they claim knowledge of in the industry is food and beverage, more specifically, wine and cocktails.
