Emily Wadman - Week 2

Hyatt Hotel Blog
After going through the Hyatt blog, I have noticed that most of their posts are about the special events involving their hotel. There are a lot of posts about events involving the hotel, and suggestions for vacations. I feel that the blog focuses on getting the customer interested in locations, where there is a Hyatt hotel near by as well. This weeks inspired story involves things to do in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area of Arizona. An employee from the hotel is in a video that was also uploaded to YouTube, touring around the area. They mention activities for every person of every age to do. The host visits a restaurant, hikes, and informs the viewer of local museums, and boutiques to look for. The information is relevant because today, people want the full experience of not only the hotel, but also the surrounding area and culture. The video really targets all ages from showing a train museum and playground, to climbing a mountain, all the way to a quiet cocktail lounge. This blog definitely meets its goal. The viewer is informed of all the attractions and must see places around the Hyatt hotel. They don’t just target this toward one audience, but it shows examples of activities for families, and everyone from age 1 to 100.

The Grand Hotel in Salem (Oregon)
The Grand Hotel in Salem’s blog is also about the events that go on in the surrounding area. The post this week was a video of a local contest at a nearby vineyard. Previous posts have also been about local festivals, markets, and tea tastings nearby the hotel. The particular video this week however, was about an Oregon Grape Stomping contest held at Willamette Valley Vineyard in Oregon. After looking through most of the posts from the past, I noticed that most of them are geared toward older people, with out little kids. The events the hotel posts about are mature, and sophisticated event involving food and beverage or a lot of touring. All the information is relevant to a say a young couple, all the way to an older retired couple. The blog most certainly reaches its goal because the events and information they post about is something that people would be interested to do without the rest of the family. Even the colors and mood of the blog make it feel directed to an older crowd.
