The Hawthorne Hotel - Blog
I chose this particular blog because the Hawthorne Hotel is a venue which I have encountered on numerous occasions. I first visited the hotel when my sister was living in Salem, then again when it was a possible venue for my senior prom, and my last visit was recently while trying to find a location for my sister's wedding. During each of my visits, I was immensely impressed with the overall presentation of the establishment, as well as the wonderful service and hospitality I received.
The blog is relatively easy to navigate, and is geared to past, present, and future guests and staff of the Hawthorne Hotel, as well as the Salem community. Alongside the blog, you can also follow the hotel on Twitter and Facebook. Their Twitter page gives brief overviews of what is on the blog for the day, and often provides links back to the actual blog. The Facebook page posts specials of the day as well as links to visit the blog. The blog posts all types of things such as events that took place, upcoming activities, menu options, hours of operation, and community happenings (such as a post today about a new baby, London, who became part of the hotel family this morning).
The Porches Inn - Blog
The second blog I chose to follow is that of the Porches Inn in North Adams, MA. The inn is located near the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, more commonly referred to as MASS MoCA. I had the opportunity of staying in this inn, and it was a lovely experience. It is most definitely not your typical inn. The rooms have a traditional structure, but contemporary elements such as an bright colored wall or intriguing sculpture make each space special and anything but ordinary. I also love how the lodging is not in one main building. The inn is a series of connected houses all with one main porch stretching the front of the buildings. It is such a lovely place to stay if you are ever out in the Berkshires.
This blog is also very easy to find your way around. There is no blatant link to Facebook, Twitter, or other social media sources. The blog does however, have many links to useful information about hiking, touring, sightseeing, leaf-peeping, food, galleries, MASS MoCa, and such things in the area. The blog primarily posts about all things in the area and staying involved, not just about the inn itself.
